Jazz singer Gregory Porter's "Waters" cd was truly one of the best releases of 2010 & I was ecstatic when it was announced that it earn a Grammy nomination. One of the standout tunes on the release is the racially charged "1960 What?" inspired the Detroit riots, the death of MLK & the racial oppression of the 60's.
This tune also caught the ears of funky Swedish producer Opolopo (who has quickly become a SOUNDROTATION favorite) & he has retweaked the tune with heavier bass & a kick drum making it a future jazz club classic.
Gregory Porter - 1960 What? (opolopo kick & bass rerub) by opolopo
Interesting but drowns out or smooths down strife which is the true art and expression of what it is all about
