REISSUE ALERT! Stanton Davis' Ghetto Mysticism "Brighter Days"

AT LAST!! This sublime piece of jazz funk heaven has FINALLY been reissued for the 1st time. Trumpet player Stanton Davis formed his band Ghetto Mysticism & in 1977 they recorded this KILLER album for the obcure jazz label Obscure. Black jazz at it's finest, similar to some of the best work of artist like The Mizell Brothers, James Mason, Lonnie Liston Smith & that of labels like Tribe & Black Jazz at that moment, sometimes spiritual & always funky.  Because of the acid jazz movement & the resurgence of jazz funk thru sampling, this obscure work became HIGHLY sought after & the original LP goes for MAJOR BUCKS on ebay. Songs from this album have been featured on compilations of Gilles Peterson & the Soul Jazz label. One of the tunes was the inspiration for one of Madlib's projects.

The good people at Culture Of Soul is releasing this for the 1st time on cd. The 1st 100 people to preorder it will be entered into a contest to win an autographed copy of the original lp, but you don't need that as an incentive, this album is KILLER!!! Order it here.

There's something for every love maker here; sensual r & b, smooth contemporary jazz, even a few hiphop ballads with guest production & appearances from 9th Wonder, Hi-Tek, Kenneth Crouch & more. The Jay Dee Pause Remix Suite

It’s amazing how time flies... Jay Dee's "Welcome 2 Detroit" was released almost ten years ago to this day! BBE says the album was an inspired work that reflected Dilla's varied influences which ranged from The Carpenters to Sergio Mendes. Now, a decade later, BamaLoveSoul releases The Pause Remix Suite: a compilation of remixes that honor Jay Dee's influence on Hip Hop and the musical world at large. We like to think of The Remix Suite in the words of Frank (of Frank N Dank) as, “Brand New Sh!t With a Blend!” Just like Dilla's influences when crafting Welcome 2 Detroit, this compilation presents many different perspectives to the originally gritty Pause for your listening pleasure. Enjoy!

Deonis "The Breaking Point"

Just over a month ago, I posted a dope free ep from Dallas singer, producer Deonis with the promise of his full length debut to come soon. Well that day is here & if you thought the free EP was dope, wait til you hear "The Breaking Point". From headnodding, drum laden hip hop soul,  Prince inspired synth funk to pulsating ballads with guest production from heavy hitters S1, Terrace Martin, Picnictyme, 88 Fingers & Ernie G. I said it before & I'll say it again, Deonis is the evolution of Dallas soul music.
