Banda Black Rio "Super Nova Samba Funk"

Banda Black Rio, led by saxophonist Oberdan Magalhaes, pioneered the soul funk movement of Brazil in the 70's. Often they'd been called the Earth, Wind & Fire of Brazil. Now the band have been revived by Magalhaes' son William and he has brought this revival the Far Out Recordings, which is probably the best label for modern & progressive Brazilian music. This revival has the passion & spirit of old again linking Brazil & New York for a feel good blast of soul funk that also takes in hiphop, samba, pop & bossa. The album including a few guest appearances from Brazilian legends & icons including Cesar Mariano, Caetano Veloso, Gilberto Gil, Elza Soares, Seu Jorge as well as GOD PT3  from NYC famed Mobb Deep Crew. Check out snippets below & purchase the album here!
